How to Choose the Right One

There are many portable bidets and these are some questions worth thinking about when choosing which one to buy.

Is it Your First Time?

If it's your first time, there's no need to buy the high-end Toto Travel Washlet, unless you're confident in your decision. Instead, try out a squeeze model to see if it can get the job done. If you're having difficulty squeezing and aiming at the same time or can't seem to control the leaks, then you might want to consider a bigger investment.

How Much Water Do You Use?

Next thing to consider is the size or how much water you normally use. We think the 400mL Brondell GoSpa is the perfect size, but it really all depends on the person. If you tend to use less water, then the Boss Mini or even an electric one like the Hibbent Portable Bidet will be perfect, but if you always end up using the whole bottle, then we would recommend a bigger size.

When Should I Buy an Electric Portable Bidet?

Finally, the last step to consider is should you buy the electric portable bidet? If you're content with the cheaper, squeezable ones and it does the job, then there's no need to. However, if you've been having difficulty squeezing or or just don't want to strain your hand every time, then the electric alternative might be a worthy investment.

Best Portable Bidet Reviews

Toto Travel Washlet

Best Overall

The Toto Travel Washlet is one of the best portable bidets if you're looking for the full package. With this great product, you definitely won't be facing common problems that other travel bidets usually have!

For frequent users, one problem they have with travel bidets is that they can't squeeze enough to get a strong enough water pressure. With the Toto Travel Washlet, just press the button and not only will you save your hand from the strain, you'll also get a stronger pressure than what most non-electrical portable models can produce!

Another problem that mechanical portable models have is the leak. Mechanical bidets come with an air valve to aid for pressure, but this can often cause the bottle to leak beforehand if tilted the wrong way. With battery operated bidets, the container doesn't have any holes to leak out of when tilted. Just make sure to empty out the container, including water inside the nozzle.

It's also manufactured by the Japanese Toilet Company, Toto, so you can expect it to be well worth your money!

  • Battery powered, strong water pressure
  • No leaks
  • Removable wand for cleaning.
  • 1 year warranty

  • Battery dies quickly if constantly using the power wash mode.
  • Small water container (180mL)

PROTIP: If the water pressure isn't strong enough, try replacing the battery with a stronger one!

Brondell GoSpa Travel Bidet

Best For The Money

There are many different non-electric models in the market with slight variations, so it was hard to choose a clear winner, but we think that the Brondell GoSpa will work for the majority.

One of its best features is the angled spray design. Most models design the neck to angle in order to get the spray angle but the Brondell GoSpa has a straight neck and only angled the spray, making it compact and extremely convenient for travels.

The bottle is also made with material that makes it easy to squeeze. There's an airlock installed on the bottom which allows air inside the bottle to get consistent spray even with low supply.

  • Compact design
  • Ideal capacity 400mL
  • 1 year warranty

  • Water may drip in first few tries
  • Can't pre-fill the container

PROTIP: When not in use, keep it upright to prevent water from dripping.

Hibbent Portable Bidet

Most Convenient

The biggest advantage that the Hibbent Portable Bidet has is the USB rechargeable battery, which lasts quite a long time. It has a long 7 inch neck for ease of use as well as a slim design making it ideal for traveling.

What we loved the most about this product is that it is silent when in use. There is a tiny noise, but it's not enough to be noticed outside, like other electronic travel bidets. It also has two types of streams for different reach.

What we didn't love about the Hibbent Portable Bidet is that the bottle adapter doesn't work as advertised. We've tried 4 different bottles and none of them seemed to attach correctly.

With full capacity and full power, the Hibbent Portable Bidet lasts for roughly 30 seconds which was plenty of time for our use. If you need more time for washing, a better alternative would be to bring an extra bottle and fill the container directly.

  • USB powered and long lasting battery
  • Slim design easy for travel
  • Quiet, discrete operation

  • Bottle adapter doesn't work with most bottles as advertised
  • Only holds 165mL

PROTIP: If you find that there's not enough water in the container, bring an extra water bottle so you can refill it.

Samodra Portable Bidet

Wildcard Pick

We chose the Samodra Portable Bidet as a wildcard because it's relatively new in the market but it has worked great for us.

It comes with the same straight head, angled spray design as the Brondell GoSpa Portable Bidet and can get a good amount of pressure despite being a sturdy material.

The retractable nozzle makes it convenient for travel and its minimal design with no clear logo makes it as discrete as you can get.

However, the reason it didn't beat the Brondell GoSpa despite having similar benefits was because of the price. The Samodra Portable Bidet comes at almost double the price but has also had much fewer defects reported, giving it the wildcard selection.

  • high quality non-electric model
  • sturdy material
  • versatile usage

  • similar products for half the price
  • Short neck
  • price

CuloClean Portable Bidet

The CuloClean Portable Bidet was designed specifically for backpackers, those who travel a lot and need to carry minimum weight.

The CuloClean is designed to fit in most bottles so it's convenient, but it has a steep learning curve. In addition to the water pressure not being as strong as other models, it also doesn't come with an air valve, which requires flipping the bottle back up in order to reset the pressure. Depending on the bottle you attach to, the length can also be short, having to reach further down in order to aim in the right area.

Despite its difficulty of usage, it's still a great alternative to carrying  around toilet paper and keeps you sanitary, which makes it an ideal item for backpacking!

  • lightweight
  • small size

  • Not much cheaper than other products
  • Poor spray pressure

PROTIP: Double check to see if the CuloClean Bidet is tight on the bottle because it might pop out and straight into the toilet!
